Day 47 Teddy Bear Face

Today I thought I'd finish the teddy bear. I had to stitch a face for him though... buttons could be used for eyes, but for babies it is safer to stitch them; so thats what I did in satin stitches. Also stitched the nose and mouth. Doesn't he look cute!

Day 46 Teddy Bear with Monogram

I continued with the teddy bear and cross-stitched a 'G' monogram on the front. This had to be done before stitching and sewing the whole bear.

Some cross-stitching can be done on other material other than Aida fabric. The fabric needs to be evenweave, like linen. The fleecy fabric I am using is not adequate for cross-stitching on, so waste canvas is used.
You cut a piece of waste canvas a bit larger than the pattern you need to cross-stitch. You hand sew it on the actual item (the teddy bear front piece). Then you cross-stitch making sure to pass through the fabric underneath the waste canvas. Once ready, dampen the waste canvas and stitched area. I used a bit of wet tissue and applied it to the area. The waste canvas threads can now be pulled - one by one -with the help of tweezers or fingers. Leave it to dry or if you need to, wash with mild soapy water. The design is ready!

Day 45 Teddy Bear pattern

This teddy bear is intended for my baby and believe it or not I have had the paper pattern enlarged and cut-out & all necessary material when I was still pregnant. My baby is now past 10 months and I am finally working on the teddy bear. This is just the fabric - sort of fleecy - cut out from the pattern... so yet another WIP. I'll continue working on it till I finish it, cause I'm really looking forward :-)

This is a small taste of quilling. I'm a beginner at this and it's not so hard to do, especially with the help of a quilling tool :-)

Day 43 Fan card

Hello to all. I got the pattern for this card on a CD with a card-making magazine and I liked it straightaway. You can also find it here: http://www.craftsuprint.com/card-making/fan-sheets/fan-pyramage-various/winter-bluebirds-fan-sheet.cfm

The parts of the fan were cut and numbered on the back so that they are in the correct order. Double-sided foam tape was applied at the overlaps and then parts attached to each other working from the right (13) to the left (1).

There are some more craft sites I came across today and suddenly I realized that they all produce printers. Well it's a clever way for advertisement... but also a resourceful way for any kind of paper craft and not only!

Day 41 Scherenschnitte Fan

Scherenschnitte means cutting with scissors. It can also be done with a craft knife, but since it is a rather old or vintage, it is probable that craft knives didn't exist at the time!
